More beetroot!!

This week we cooked:

Silverbeet and Ricotta Rolls
Pizza of the Imagination
Beetroot and Chickpea Salad
Massaman Vegetable Curry
Warm Cinnamon Apples with Pomegranate and Blueberry Yoghourt

So how did we arrive at this menu? Well, the silverbeet and ricotta rolls were a request - several people asked if we could repeat this recipe and as we had plenty of silverbeet to harvest we decided to oblige. We have a good crop of beetroots at present so will be including them in menus for the next few weeks. The apples and yoghourt were given to us. And the pizza and the vegetable curry were good ways of using the selection of vegetables that we have available at present.

Billy was very proud of the beetroot he harvested!

Cameron harvested broad beans that went into our curry

Ryan harvested a beetoot

We harvested a wide range of salad leaves

Cody grated nutmeg for the silverbeet and ricotta rolls

Cody brushed the silverbeet and ricotta rolls with butter before sprinkling caraway seeds on them

Josh brushed the baking tin with oil

We have been concentrating on being safe with knives. First we cut our vegetables so that they have a flat surface. Then we hold the flat surface in place using a 'Bear Paw' grip. In the next three photos Pauline holds the onion for Ryan, using a Bear Paw grip, while he does the cutting.

The warm cinnamon apples were delicious

Nick stirred the apples

Darcy and Annette enjoyed the apples

Shannon enjoyed using the apple machine!

Here are some more cooking photos:

In the garden we continued to work on our compost heaps:

And we also needed to do a lot of watering:

And our potatoes have just about reached the top of their pots now.

And next week we are cooking:

Pizza of the Imagination

Beetroot and Orange Salad

Green Couscous with Broad Beans, Dill and Pistachios

Curried Eggs

Artichoke Cheese Puffs
